PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sliding member and two combined sliding members which are excellent in wear resistance and which are capable of achieving reduction in offensiveness against a mating member, or reduction in machining cost (compared to the machining cost on the case where mirror surface finishing is performed). SOLUTION: The sliding member of this invention is a sliding member 1A provided with a sliding surface 40a which abuts on the sliding surface 70 of a mating member 7 to relatively move, and the sliding member 1A is composed of a base material 2, a lower layer diamond film 3 formed on the base material 2, and an upper layer film 4a containing diamond grains 6 formed on the surface 30 of the lower layer diamond film 3.
