PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method which achieves shortening of working time for cleaning sterilization of a vacuum cooler and accurate cleaning sterilization in safety. SOLUTION: In the cleaning sterilization method of a vacuum cooler 1, equipped with an electrolytic water making device 10 for generating alkaline water and acid water, the alkaline water, the acid water, hot water or water, is sprayed selectively to the internal wall surface of a processing tank 2 of the vacuum cooler 1, when no object to be cooled is housed in the processing tank 2.
