PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrothermal reactor, capable of restoring a stationary state in the case the reaction state varies due to a change in the state of a material to be reacted or, the abrasion of a nozzle, or the like, while supplying the material to be reacted at the substantially same flow rate and performing a reaction without stopping the reaction. SOLUTION: The material 8 to be reacted and air are supplied to and mixed in an injection device 2, and then they are injected from an injection port 3 to a reactor 1, in which a hydrothermal reaction is carried out in a critical or subcritical state. At this time, an abnormal state in the reactor 1 is detected by detectors T1, T2, T3, and a driving device 14 is driven by a signal from a control device 15 to vertically move an injection flow adjusting member 13, thereby the injection flow 16 is varied to restore the stationary state.
