PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nitrogen-contg. heterocyclic derivative having excellent ileum-type bile acid transporter inhibitory action, and to provide pharmacologically acceptable salts thereof, esters or other derivatives thereof. SOLUTION: This nitrogen-contg. heterocyclic derivative is shown by the general formula (I) [wherein, R1, R2, R3 and R4 are each H, OH or a lower alkoxy group; R5 is an aryl group; R6 is a group of the formula: CONR7R8 (wherein, R7 is a 1-10C alkyl or 2-10C alkenyl group; and R8 is an aryl or aromatic heterocyclic group); where, when R2 is H and R3 is a lower alkoxy group, R5 is an aryl substituted with 1-5 hydroxyl or lower alkoxy group (s)]. Pharmacologically acceptable salts thereof, esters or other derivatives thereof, are also provided.
