PURPOSE: A power-consumption controlling circuit is provided to prevent power from being consumed in an appliance when the appliance is not being used in standby state where a user does not operate a key. CONSTITUTION: A power-consumption controlling circuit includes a power supply(10) for supplying a restricted amount of power, a key input part(12) whose keys are connected to the power supply in parallel to output the power of the power supply as a key signal, and a controller(14) for generating a control signal based on the key signal to control a load and transmit a remote control signal and for generating a power continuance signal during a period of time for which the remote control signal is transmitted. The controlling circuit further has a power switching signal generator(16) for generating a power switching signal according to the key signal and the power continuance signal, and a power switch(18) for providing the power of the power supply to the controller and the load as their operation power.
