PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus capable of automatically and easily detecting the abnormality of a coating gun. SOLUTION: The apparatus for detecting the abnormality of a coating gun has a vibration sensor 12 for detecting the vibration of a coating gun and an arithmetic unit 22 analyzing the frequency of the detected vibration and using a correlation evaluation function to calculate the correlation of the analyzed frequency and preliminarily stored frequency at a time of normality and judging the presence of abnormality in the coating gun when the calculation result is below a predetermined threshold value.
