The rod guide (1) has more magazine tubes (2,3) than the drum has spindles and can be turned relative the drum as couple to the guide so that alternating magazines can be allocated to one spindle and the number of magazines equals a whole number multiple of the drum spindles. The center axes of the tubes lie on a common circle (7) round a longitudinal axis of the guide (1), this circle corresponding to the circumference of the spindles. The magazine tubes are offset at equal angle between the tubes (2,3) in line with the spindles. A whole number multiple of the number of magazine tubes equal to the number of drum spindles are of larger, smaller or identical diameter to take bar stock of the same or different material and the same or different diameter. The bar guide is preferably a side or rear loader.
