Disclosed is a method for making a micro-titer plate comprising the steps of: providing an array of a plurality of sample containers connected to each other (10) providing a filter sheet (1) having preformed therein a plurality of filter means (28) for insertion positioning the filter sheet (1), with said plurality sample containers connected to each other (10) such that said plurality of filter means (28) are in register with the inlet openings (16) of said sample containers (10); separating each of said plurality of filter means (28) from said filter sheet (1) and placing each of said filter means (28) in the sample container (10) with which the filter means (28) is in register. The present invention further provides a micro-titer plate in accordance with the above method and with a length between 11 and 13 cm and a width between 8 and 9 cm and containing between 360 and 400 sample containers connected to each other.
