PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermosetting resin composition which is excellent in dimensional stability and impact strength, is free from cracks occurring during molding, exhibits surface beauty derived from an acrylic syrup, and is resistant to water and weathering and to provide an artificial marble prepared by using the same. SOLUTION: This composition contains (a) an acrylic syrup prepared by dissolving (a-1) an acrylic polymer formed mainly from methyl methacrylate and having a wt. average mol.wt. of 30,000-80,000 and (a-2) an acrylic polymer formed mainly from methyl methacrylate and having a wt. average mol.wt. of 150,000-300,000 in a (meth)acrylate and preferably further contains (b) a cross- linker, (c) a thermoplastic polymer, (d) a filler, (e) an organic peroxide, (f) an alkaline earth metal, and (g) a fibrous reinforcement. This composition is aged at a temperature in the range of from room temperature to 50 deg.C to give a tack-free molding material, which is press cured at 80-160 deg.C to give an artificial marble exhibiting a small molding shrinkage and an excellent impact strength.
