AQUEOUS DISPERSION STABILIZER COMPOSED OF VINYL ALCOHOL- BASED POLYMER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new vinyl alcohol-based polymer which is excellent especially as an aqueous dispersing agent and dispersion stabilizer for pigment, and to provide an aqueous dispersing agent and an aqueous dispersion stabilizer which use the above polymer. SOLUTION: This vinyl alcohol-based polymer has a hydrophobic end group of a polyalkylene oxide group represented by the general formula X-O-(AO)n (wherein X is a hydrophobic group having benzene ring structure or a cyclic alkyl group structure; AO is a 2-4C alkylene oxide group; and n is an integer of 1 to 200) as a side chain. This aqueous dispersing agent and this aqueous dispersion stabilizer are made of the above polymer.
