PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic tire that is improved in the durability of bead portions. SOLUTION: A one-ply radial carcass has a wrap portion with a terminal end positioned on a bead core. A bead portion reinforcing layer has a multitude of steel cords of only strand construction. The steel cords have a cord diameter of 1.00 to 1.50 mm. The steel cord ends at the terminal end of the bead portion reinforcing layer have a flare width 1.0 to 1.5 times as long as the cord diameter. The multitude of steel cords of the bead portion reinforcing layer have cord intervals of 1.00 to 1.50 mm in a direction perpendicular to their axes inwardly of their ends along the tire radius.
