PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a maintenance operation by preventing adhesion and accumulation of tar in a transfer route of raw material. SOLUTION: In this method for producing a carbide by successively transporting the raw material by transfer conveyors 3a to 3d in a carbonization furnace 3 and carbonizing the raw material, parts to be brought into contact with outside air of the transfer conveyors 3a to 3d and falling parts 3A to 3D are provided with heat insulating materials 4 to prevent temperature drop and to prevent formation, adhesion and accumulation of tar by cooling of a thermal decomposition gas.
