APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR BILLING IN INSTALLMENT FOR COMMUNICATION SERVICES

PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for billing in installment for communication services are provided to enable an installment billing a subscriber who applied for the installment billing system or the subject to pay for the charge in installment for communication services. CONSTITUTION: A mobile terminal(MT)(300) enables a user to communicate in mobility. A base transceiver station(BTS)(310) provides the mobile communication service through the MT. A base station controller(BCS)(320) manages the BTS. A mobile switching center(MSC)(330) connects the BCS to PSTN or other BTS. A charging center(CC)(360) bills for the charge of the MT in connection to MSC. BTS(310) provides the mobile terminal subscriber with the mobile communication service. BCS(320) controls the data transmission between BTS(310) and MSC(330), supporting a number of BTSs(310). MSC(330) is connected to BCS to deal with the call setting and releasing functions of the mobile terminal(300). It obtains the additional service or charge data of the mobile terminal subscriber from a visitor location register(340) and home location register(350). The visitor location register(340) temporarily stores initial data of the mobile terminal and its subscriber who registered the location to the area of the register, and is able to be located with the MSC(330) or apart. The home location register(350) stores the permanent data and location data of the mobile terminal(300) and its subscriber, performing various kinds of functions related to the call treatment and additional service. The charging center(CC)(360) is connected to MSC(330) and receives data related to charging such as the point of time when the call of the terminal(300) has started, the number of the terminal and the duration of the call.
