In resistance welding a metal terminal to the metal foil of a capacitor the terminal is supported on an electrically insulating member, the foil is brought into contact with the terminal, a pair of spaced apart electrodes are brought into contact with the foil and current is passed between the electrodes. The copper, bronze or tinned brass blade terminal 3 is placed on an insulating support 5, the aluminium foil 4 of a paper capacitor is placed on the terminal and a pair of electrodes 1, 2 are engaged with the foil. Current passed between the electrodes welds the foil to the terminal. A prior art method is described in which the foil is placed on the support with the electrodes in contact with the terminal. |
