PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spindle motor with satisfactory durability and reliability by providing a lubricant reservoir which certainly supplies lubricant to bearing clearances while compensating reduction of the lubricant, and easily discharges residual bubbles in the lubricant. SOLUTION: In this spindle motor, a spindle 13 and a sleeve 12 are supported and rotationally driven in a relative manner by a radial fluid bearing R and a thrust bearing S through bearing clearances in a non-contact manner. In such a spindle motor, a lubricant reservoir 19 is formed on an outer peripheral side of an inner side sleeve 12b of a double-structure sleeve 12 whose inner periphery is faced to the spindle 13, which reservoir 19 has one end communicated with the bearing clearance and the other end communicated with the outside. A lubricant supply passage 20 of the lubricant reservoir 19 communicated with the bearing clearance has such a size as to show capillarity. Bubbles in the lubricant in the lubricant reservoir 19 are discharged through the clearance communicated with the outside. The lubricant is stably and automatically supplied to the bearing clearances due to capillarity through the lubricant supply passage 20. |
