PURPOSE: A car audio system is provided to connect a car audio and a portable CD player or an MP3 player and to indicate or control the state of the portable CD player by separating signals from the portable CD player or the MP3 player. CONSTITUTION: A car audio system contains an operating and indicating device(10) consisting of a power on/off button, a volume button, a display, an up/down button selecting audio data or MP3 files, a play/stop button playing or stopping the data and the files, and a switch; a portable CD player(20) or an MP3 player playing files and data; an audio device(30) consisting of an AUX(auxiliary) terminal(31), a signal separator(33) separating digital signals and analog signals, a microprocessor(35) inputting all kinds of control signals and controlling all kinds of devices and an audio IC(integrated circuit)(37); and an output device(40) outputting signals from the audio IC, as sound.
