METHOD OF MANUFACTURING TRANSPORT AND/OR STORAGE CONTAINER FOR RADIOACTIVE ARTICLES

PURPOSE: A method of manufacturing a transport and/or storage container for radioactive articles is provided to produce with adequate n-shielding without having to resort to large wall thicknesses or complex manufacturing methods. CONSTITUTION: A hollowed cylindrical intermediate space(3) formed between a metallic outer shell(1) and a metallic inner shell(2) is filled with an aggregate of concrete having minimum particle size, and the remaining part is filled with an emulsion of cement, water and additive. When two concentric sections(31-32) are formed by a diaphragm(8) in the intermediate space between the outer shell(1) and the inner shell(2), the container of this kind is usable to a strong neutron source intensity with compact dimension. A plurality of passage openings of the diaphragm(8) is smaller than the minimum particle size. The aggregate of concrete and the suspension are injected into only one of the two sections.
