PURPOSE: To provide an organic electroluminescent element having high brightness and long lifetime. CONSTITUTION: As material for an organic electroluminescent element, tetraphenylen expressed in the following formula I is used. (herein, R1-R16 are each independently hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, and hydroxy group at least one of R1-R16 is -NAr1Ar2 (Ar1, Ar2 express independently aryl groups of substituted or non-substituted 6-20C aryl groups, at least one of them has substituted or non-substituted styrene group as substitution group).
