PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase a total conductor sectional area by increasing an effective groove area for winding main and sub coils and to improve efficiency by reducing primary resistance in an induction motor. SOLUTION: In the induction motor, gear teeth 22b and 22c in a U shape and an inverse U shape in a circumferential direction and a straight gear tooth 22d that is extended in a central direction are connected to a gear tooth 22a that projects toward the center by the amount of the number of poles from a yoke 21 of a stator 20. A main coil 23 is directly wound around one gear tooth via a groove at an outer-periphery side being formed by the gear tooth 22a and the gear teeth 22b, 22c, and 22d, and a sub coil 24 is directly wound around two gear teeth via a groove being formed by the gear teeth 22b and 22c in a U shape and an inverse U shape. By eliminating the back-to-back gap of the gear teeth 22b and 22c in a U shape and an inverse U shape, a groove (effective groove area S5) at an outer-periphery side and a groove (effective groove area S6) at an inner-periphery side, are increased.
