The invention relates to an agent which kills the hepatitis A virus. Said agent contains one or several aqueous alcohols and optionally 0.1 to 10 % by weight of additional anti-microbial components, with the proviso that it comprises less than 0.5 % by weight, in relation to the total content of the agent, of chlorine-containing and/or chlorine cleaving active ingredients.
