The invention relates to a stop valve, comprising a housing (1), with an essentially circular throughflow bore (10) and a valve gate (6), which may be removed from the housing, on at least one side, through a slotted recess (5) and by means of which the throughflow bore may be partially or completely closed. A first sealing arrangement (12), which encircles the throughflow bore and a second sealing arrangement (18) are both arranged in the housing, whereby said second sealing arrangement is at a distance from the first sealing arrangement and in the vicinity of the slotted recess in the housing. In order to avoid dead volumes, from which contaminating material may not be reliably rinsed, the front face (21) of the second sealing arrangement (18), which faces the throughflow bore (10), encircles the first sealing arrangement (12), in the vicinity of the slotted recess (5), in the form of an arch, preferably in the form of an equidistantly arranged semicircle.
