The electric machine has a stator (1) with salient poles, fitted with tooth coils (7) on a coil body (3). The coil body has a phase splitter (4) for isolating the tooth coil from adjacent tooth coils and/or the housing. The phase splitter (4) is attached by a membrane hinge (5) to the coil body. An automatic winding device is typically used to provide the coil body with a winding for a tooth coil.
