APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING MOLD USING SEMI-SOLID METAL FORMING

PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for manufacturing a mold are provided which simply and promptly manufacture the mold in a lower cost by using the semi-solid metal forming, thereby not taking into account of such items as cutting path plan and processing conditions. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus comprises a graphite die set (10) the upper and lower sides of which are opened, and in the inside of which a carrying part (11) carrying a solid metallic material (M) to be manufactured by dies is formed; a ceramic mold frame (20) which has a shape corresponding to the shape of the dies and installed so that the opened upper side of the carrying part (11) of the graphite die set (10) is sealed; a means (31) heating the metallic material (M) so as to transform the metallic material (M) carried in the carrying part (11) into a semi-solid condition in which liquid phase and solid phase are mixed; a pressurizing plunger (41) which is installed movably up and down through the opened surface of the lower side of the carrying part (11) and pressurizes the semi-solid metallic material upwardly so that the metallic material heated to the semi-solid state is filled into the ceramic mold frame (20) by the heating means; and a pressure control part for improving filling efficiency of the metallic material by forming a vacuum state surrounding the ceramic mold frame (20) when the pressurizing plunger (41) pressurizes the metallic material.
