PURPOSE: An exhaust gas temperature controlling system is provided to improve the efficiency of cleaning noxious materials in exhaust gas by keeping the exhaust gas at a specific temperature level. CONSTITUTION: An exhaust gas temperature controlling system comprises: a cooling passage(2) connected with an exhaust port(34) and communicated with an exhaust manifold(36); many cooling fins formed on the outer face of a head cover(1); a temperature sensor(17) installed in the middle of the exhaust port; an ECU(Electronic Control Unit)(18) outputting a driving signal for circulating exhaust gas through the cooling passage; a switching unit(4) for changing the circulation of the exhaust gas; an oil supply line(15) supplying oil to the switching unit; and a solenoid valve(19) selectively opening the oil supply line. The exhaust gas discharged to the exhaust port flows into a case via a gas inlet port. Some of the exhaust gas passes through the exhaust manifold and the rest exhaust gas circulates through the cooling passage. Thereafter, the exhaust gas is collected in the exhaust manifold. According to the exhaust gas cooled while passing through the cooling passage, the temperature of the collected exhaust gas falls to be close to an optimal cleaning temperature. Therefore, the exhaust gas cleaning efficiency of a catalyst is improved. While raising the exhaust gas due to the driving of an engine, the exhaust gas flows into a heating groove. Then, wax expands by the heat of the exhaust gas and adheres onto the inner face of the case. The gap between the case and a piston is minimized and oil doesn't flow out to the exhaust port.
