PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connecting apparatus capable of always guiding and leading both ends of a carcass ply in a state of holding both the ends at a predetermined interval and accurately connecting both the ends. SOLUTION: The carcass play 31 is wound on a molding drum 47, both the ends 31a, 31b of the ply 31 are held between a pair of upper and lower connecting rollers 62 and 65, and connected while approaching both the ends 62 and 65 to one another. Before connecting both the ends, both the ends are contacted with both side faces of a specifying member 77 as the drum 47 is radially reduced, and the interval between both the ends is specified constantly. When both the ends are connected, a pressing member 83 is retained at a position corresponding to both the ends, the rollers 62, 65 or the like are moved. Both the ends before connecting at the forward side from the rollers are held between supporting rollers 78, 79 and the member 83, and both the ends after connecting at the rear side from the rollers are pressed and held at the drum 47 side.
