PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hot work tool steel excellent in weldability, used for hot-working dies. SOLUTION: The hot work tool steel excellent in weldability has a composition consisting of, by weight, 0.10-0.30% C, <=1.0% Si, <=1.0% Mn, 1.0-3.0% Cr, 0.2-0.6% V, either or both of Mo and W within the range where Mo equivalent represented by (Mo+1/2) becomes 0.2-2.0%, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities. Further, in addition to the above components, 0.01-0.10% Nb and either or both of 0.3-1.1% Ni and 0.2-1.0% Co are added, and further, one or more elements among <=0.10% S, <=0.030% P, 0.030-0.20% Pb, 0.010-0.050% Te, 0.0003-0.020% Ca, 0.005-0.10% Bi and 0.010-0.10% Se are added.
