PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a range-finder by which the range-finding of a wide area within an image plane is instantenously executed, a range-finding point is efficiently decided at high speed and accurate focusing is executed. SOLUTION: In this range-finder, a picture signal is outputted from area sensors 26a and 26b into which an optical image from plural range-finding areas two-dimensionally distributed within a photographing image plane is inputted. A part at which the output level of a picture element line arrayed on plural straight lines incorporated in the picture signal is changed more or less by a value equal to or above a prescribed value by an arithmetic control circuit 29 is detected. Then, the range-finding area is specified based on the output of the arithmetic control circuit 29. |
