PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silver iodide fine-grained emulsion having a narrow grain size distribution and excellent in preservability, a silver halide emulsion using the silver iodide fine-grained emulsion, having high sensitivity and high gamma and excellent in covering power and a photosensitive material using the silver halide emulsion. SOLUTION: The silver iodide fine-grained emulsion contains fine silver iodide grains having 0.02-0.07μm average grain diameter formed in the presence of water-dispersible cationic starch.
