PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bar code seal which solves problems when bar code printing parts are stripped from merchandise and an inventory management method for merchandise which enables users to easily recognize the number of the merchandise within the period of validity using the bar code seal. SOLUTION: This bar code seal is successively provided with the bar code printing parts via cutting lines in adhesive parts having glue surfaces to be securely stuck to the merchandise. These bar code printing parts are so formed as not to be affixed to the merchandise. This inventory management method for merchandise is constituted in the following manner: When the merchandise is delivered, the adhesive parts of the bar code seal are adhered to the delivered merchandise and the bar code display parts are scanned into a computer and are compared with the delivery data and merchandise inspection processing is carried out. The merchandise is then moved to a storage place. When the merchandise is moved from the storage place for the purpose of use, etc., the bar code printing parts successively disposed via the cutting lines at the adhesive parts are disconnected from the cutting lines and the bar code printing parts are separately held. The bar code display parts are then scanned by the computer, by which the number of the merchandise within the period of validity is displayed by each piece of the merchandise so that the placement of an order is made possible when the prescribed quantity is attained.
