METHOD OF DETECTING DISCHARGE AT CONNECTION POINT OF POWER CABLE AND DEVICE THEREOF

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect discharge at the insulating material of the connection point of a power cable without being affected by electromagnetic noise. SOLUTION: Light which is emitted with the discharge at an insulating material is sensed and used to detect the discharge. A window is formed in a surrounding member 21 of the connection point, and a light-collecting lens 29 is mounted on this window. This light-collecting lens 29 collects the discharging light, which is guided to an optical fiber cord 30 and detected by an external light detector.
