PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for measuring electric power whereby the power consumed by an electrically driven motor is measured, and recording, arithmetically analyzing and displaying an active power and a reactive power. SOLUTION: The method and apparatus for measuring the electric power include a supplied power calculation process in which a supplied power is calculated based on a power-measuring means for measuring the supplied power by sensors 3 and 4 set to a plurality of points of a power supply line and analog measured data, an electric energy integration process in which electric energies of the plurality of points calculated in the supplied power calculation process are added to obtain a total electric energy, a data transmission process in which data obtained in the supplied power calculation process and the electric energy integration process and stored in an external storage device are transmitted, a data interruption transmission process in which data are converted into codes and transmitted, a power judgment process in which a maximum value and a minimum value of each of the effective power and the reactive power are obtained from the supplied power, and a screen display change-over process in which a plurality of data obtained in the above processes are sequentially displayed to one screen display device. An operation related to processing in the supplied power calculation process and the power judgment process is carried out when the processing is not carried out, and an operation related to the non-processing is carried out at the processing time.
