摘要 A noninvasive method of monitoring the intracranial pressure (ICE) of a patient. At least one waveform [22] representative of a pulsation of an anatomical feature of the patient's head is obtained, preferably by integrating ultrasound reflection traces in a time gate corresponding to reflections from the feature. The preferred anatomical feature is the third cerebral ventricle. A quantitative measure of ICE is inferred from two or more diagnostic features, such as diagnostic times, associated with the waveform [22]. Alternatively, a qualitative measure of ICE is obtained from the shape of the respiratory wave imposed on the train of waveforms by the patient's breathing.
