Disclosed is a catheter unit comprising a needle (15), an actuator body (90), and an elongated blunting member (40) coupled to a flash chamber and to carriage (55). The blunting member (40) is disposed coaxially within the bore of the needle (15). The blunting member (40) is capable of moving from a proximal to distal position when the distal end of at least one of two longitudinal members (95,102) is pressed on the outer surface (103,104) of the proximal end causing another longitudinal member (115,118) to advance which in turn causes the said other longitudinal member (115,118) to press against a neck (120) causing the blunting member (40) to advance from a proximal position to a distal position. |
