PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing in high productivity a flame- retardant polyester fiber having a combination of high flame retardancy, extremely high whiteness and physical and mechanical properties. SOLUTION: This method for producing a high-whiteness flame-retardant polyester fiber with a combination of high flame retardancy and hydrolysis resistance by using a combination of a specific phosphorus compound with a specific polycondensation catalyst each in a specified quantity is provided.
