PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a formed product of an artificial soil sufficiently reduced in weight and excellent in soil holding power even when water is permeated. SOLUTION: This formed product 1 of an artificial soil for greening a building comprises a porous formed product consisting essentially of a granular artificial soil material containing swellable grains such as vermiculite and a water-resistant polyvinyl alcohol and obtained by swelling the grains, forming the grains and retaining the shape of voids formed in the artificial soil material with a cured product of the water-resistant polyvinyl alcohol. A water-resistant polyvinyl alcohol having >=1,700 degree of polymerization and >=98 mol% degree of saponification is preferably used as the water-resistant polyvinyl alcohol or a modified polyvinyl alcohol in which hydrcphobic groups are introduced into the molecular chain is preferably used as the water-resistant polyvinyl alcohol. The panels 2a and 2b for greening the wall surface are obtained by holding the formed product of the artificial soil with a frame unit and installing an engaging part 3 engageable with the wall to be greened in the frame unit.
