PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure stable sealing performance with low cost for a long time. SOLUTION: In this metal gasket, a peripheral part 4 of a combustion chamber hole 3 is made thicker than other parts and concave full beads 5, 6, 7, 8 are formed on each of front and rear faces around the peripheral part 4, and at least two base plates 1,2 are provided so as to seal between joint surfaces of a cylinder block and a cylinder head with making maximum load act to the peripheral part 4 when the base plates 1, 2 are inserted between the joint surfaces and fastened by a fastening bolt. The full beads 5, 6, 7, 8 are filled with elastic sealant S to fill concave spaces of the beads 5, 6, 7, 8.
