PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an aromatic ester-modified, high-mol.wt. polyol which contains aromatic ester units and has low acid value, total unsaturation degree, and viscosity, to provide a production method therefor, and to obtain a polyurethane elastomer excellent in moldability and mechanical properties. SOLUTION: This aromatic ester-modified polyol is prepared by the addition polymerization of an epoxide compound onto active hydrogen compounds including an aromatic ester compound in the presence of a catalyst compound having a P=N bond and has an aromatic ester unit content of 1-20 wt.%, an oxypropylene unit content of 40 wt.% or higher, a hydroxyl value of 10-130 mgKOH/g, a total unsaturation degree of 0.07 meq./g or lower, and an acid value of 0.1 mgKOH/g or lower. A production method for the polyol and a production method for a polyurethane elastomer using the polyol as a raw material are provided.
