PURPOSE: An apparatus and its method for retrieving and displaying data are provided to retrieve and display data to be broadcasted through a VSB broadcasting signal, by transmitting data together with a digital television programming through the use of data transmission characteristics of ATSC standard, and formulating data scrolling tickers layered on the digital television programming to be displayed on a screen of the digital television or a monitor of computer. CONSTITUTION: A receiver(13) receives a digital broadcasting signal, wherein the digital broadcasting signal has at least one of digital television programming packets and at least one of data packets. A demodulator(14) coupled with the receiver(13) demodulates the digital broadcasting signal. A detector(16) coupled with the demodulator(14) detects the data packets of at least one. A memory(20) coupled with the detector(16) stores data contained in the data packets of at least one. A processor(18) coupled with the memory(20) generates a scrolling ticker describing the data. An operator interface module(21) coupled with the processor(18) displays the scrolling ticker. The data contains at least one of links linked to a WEB site. The operator interface module(21) may select at least one of WEB sites, and the processor(18) may be coupled with the at least one of WEB sites. |
