PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transmit a color image through simple operation by applying a device and a method for transmitting image especially in the case of transmitting image data through an information network. SOLUTION: This device integrally holds an image data acquiring means 5 for acquiring image data from an original, electronic mail preparing means 20 and 22 for automatically generating electronic mail, with which a file composed of these image data is set to an attached file, and a transmitting means 23 for transmitting these electronic mail and correspondent attached file to a mail server, electronic mail, with which image data are made into attached file, is automatically generated and further, the attached file is preferentially processed.
