<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical nonlinear organic material containing a dye which does not lose the aligning property even at high temperature and which has high density of optical nonlinear groups. SOLUTION: The optical nonlinear organic material containing a dye consists of a polymer having 1,000 to 20,000 mol.wt. and having the main chain basically composed of the compound unit expressed by formula (I). The method of preparing the material is also provided. In formula I, each of R1, R2, R3 and R4 is an alkylene group and X is -NO3, -C=N, formula (II), formula (III) or formula (IV), wherein Y is -NO2, -C=N or-CH=C(CN)2.</p> |
