The unit has adjacent supply side or load side connecting terminals on opposite sides of an insulated container. The insulated container has a main housing part (2) and a main cover (3) with bolt access holes directly over the terminals. The unit has an insulated auxiliary housing and connecting leads between terminal and wire connection sections. The interior of the auxiliary housing is divided (11d) into wiring chambers for the individual poles with wire feed channels (14a) between wire insertion openings and connection sections. The auxiliary housing has bolt access holes above the connection sections and is mounted on the supply end of the container so as to cover the holes.
