REFRACTORY CONCRETE

Aggregates (2) having grains (3) with a maximum size of up to 10 mm are used in conventional concrete (1). In the refractory concrete (4) disclosed in the invention, granules (5) with a size of up to 60 mm are also used, more specifically, grains (5) with a size ranging from 10 to 60 mm in a proportion of up to 60 % of the entire granulometry. This makes it possible to reduce the amount of water required for the preparation of this type of concrete. A smaller proportion of fine and ultrafine grains (2) is needed to attain similar casting and compacting properties of traditional concrete while providing more homogenous heating, a more dense and compact structure with enhanced mechanical and crack resistance, improved casting properties and better resistance to mechanical wear.
