Inking unit in a rotary printing machine

The roller is for use in a rotary printing press, and has cups and ribs forming the pattern and to which liquid is supplied in metered quantities. Seen in the direction of rotation (12) of the roller (3), a regeneration unit (8) precedes the metering equipment (4), while following the regeneration unit, in turn are application (9) and discharge (10) units. The cups (5) in the roller can be regenerated to the full volume of the basic pattern, being then filled with liquid by the application unit. The discharge unit at least partly extracts the liquid from the cups. The regeneration unit can consist of an ultrasonic cleaning system or one operated by high-pressure water.
