PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stabilize a metal porphyrin complex thermodynamically and also against light and to obtain a material which adsorbs, traps, desorb or decompose harmful substances. SOLUTION: A composite material prepared by adsorbing a metal porphyrin or its derivative to a swellable synthetic clay specifically adsorbs and traps, or desorbs and decomposes harmful substances according to the kind of the metal. The composite body can be used repeatedly.
