PURPOSE: Provided is a process for producing and purifying an acrylic acid from propylene, which has improved properties and the processing amount by using a tandem reactor. CONSTITUTION: The process comprises (A) supplying a reaction composition containing 7 vol.% or more of propylene, oxygen, steam and an inert gas to a first reactor(1) having a plurality of contact tubes filled with a catalyst, (B) forming a mixed gas containing acrolein, (C) cooling the formed mixed gas containing acrolein in a heat-exchanger(2), (D) supplying the cooled mixed gas containing acrolein to a second reactor(3) having a plurality of contact tubes filled with a catalyst and (E) forming a mixed gas containing acrylic acid, and extracting and purify the acrylic acid from the mixed gas containing acrylic acid.
