A protective assembly (20) for a vehicle (10) includes a first protective means, such as a bumper bar (21) mounted to the vehicle (10) and a second protective means, such as a bull bar frame (22) mounted to the first protective means (21) and movable relative thereto between a first extended position and a second retracted position, the area of protection afforded by the protective assembly (20) being greater when the second protective means (22) is in the first extended position compared to the area of protection when the second protective means (22) is in the second position.
