An image capturing and processing system and method for superficial defect research and tone evaluation of industrial products are provided, wherein the method comprises the steps of: capturing digitalized images of the product; performing a processing of the digitalized images to detect one or more defective areas of the product; performing a first classification of the product based upon the detected defective areas; assigning a tone to the product; and performing a second classification of the product based upon the assigned tone.
