PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber using a polymer clad consisting of a low refractive index material and having excellent heat resistance and moisture resistance. SOLUTION: The optical fiber consists of a quartz glass core and a clad formed from a material having a smaller refractive index than that of the core. The polymer clad consists of a copolymer containing as the monomer component, one or more kinds of fluoroacrylates expressed by formula (I): CH2=CR-COORf by 40 to 90 mol% and a fluoroacrylate containing one or more kinds of sulfonamide groups expressed by formula (II): CH2=CR'-COO (CH2)p(CmH2m+1)NSO2CnF2n+1 by 60 to 10 mol%. In formula (I), R is H, CH3, F or the like, Rf is (CH2)m(CF2CF2)nCF3, (CH2)m(CF2CF2)nCF2CF3, CH2(CF2CF2)nH or the like, m is an integer 1 to 6 and n is an integer 0 to 5. In formula (II), R' is H or CH3, and each of m, n and p is an integer >=1. |
