The invention relates to a polyhedral mechanism, comprising substantially rigid bodies which are linked in an articulated manner and nodes which are fixed to said bodies; and to a method for producing the same. When the polyhedral mechanism moves, said nodes move in such a way as to form planes of movement which are each formed by polyhedral surfaces that are delimited by edges of a polyhedral. Sub-structures which are allocated to adjacent planes of movement respectively and which contain the bodies, are connected to hinges that form the nodes in such a way as to form closed kinematic loops and in such a way that a rotation of the adjacent sub-structures about their common edges of the polyhedral, respectively, is blocked and the spatial angular position of the planes of movement in relation to each other remains essentially the same while the polyhedral surfaces experience a geometrically similar or self-similar change of dimension, preferably a central extension. |
