摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten work time by detecting contact of a grinding wheel with a cam shaft in a simple constitution and at a favorable precision. SOLUTION: Contact of a can shaft W with a grinding wheel 12 is detected by a vibration sensor 12. The vibration sensor 12 is disposed to be apart from the grinding wheel 12 and the cam shaft W. At the time of work, rotation of the workpiece W is stopped, while a grinding wheel base 8 is advanced at a high positioning speed till the grinding wheel 12 gets in contact with a grinding surface Wb of the workpiece W. As contact of the grinding wheel 12 with the grinding surface Wb of the workpiece W is detected, the positioning speed is changed into a coarse grinding feed speed, and the workpiece W is rotated, so rotation of the workpiece W and advance/retraction move of the grinding wheel base 8 are synchronously controlled.
